December 06, 2011 | 19:18 YEREVAN. – Despite promises of the Armenian authorities in 2008, official data state that 35.8% of population is poor, 21.3% is very poor, while 3% of Armenians live in extremely poor conditions, parliamentary opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun MP Lilit Galstyan said at the Parliament.
“Despite promises of the Armenian authorities in 2008 that we will become a regional center on several indexes, reality is quite different. Armenia registered 1.2 million poor people.
The state budget-2011 was characterized as social, stabilizing the economy, while reality is quite different.
According to Transparency International, Armenia’s position on corruption increased, as the state moved on 129th place on corruption index, as compared to last year’s 123d.
According to UN demographic study, Armenia’s population will reduce by 25% by 2025, while its neighboring states will register 31% and 43% population increase at the same time.
Total of 100,000 Armenians left the state this year. Migration destroys Armenia. No matter how often we say that the state budget-2012 is human-oriented, Armenians leave the state.
My conclusion is that incumbent authorities put the state in danger by their moral, political and spiritual depiction. They have no political will to lead the nation and preserve Armenia’s economic, demographic and strategic security,” MP’s speech states.
