Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited the Main Cathedral of Mkhitaryan Unity on St. Lazarus Island in Venice on Tuesday and met the members of the unity and representatives of cultural, religious organizations of the Armenian community in Italy.
As the press service of the President informs Armenian News-NEWS.am, in Mkhitaryan Unity the President lit a candle for Armenia, the Armenian Diaspora and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The President stated that it was a great honor to annunciate the opening of the events dedicated to the 500 year anniversary of Armenian lettered typography with the members of the Mkhitaryan Unity.
“We cannot isolate ourselves from international events, we cannot live isolated from other people, we must keep our Armenian roots alive in our young generation at the same time we must save our national identity in this fast changing world. This is our current problem and now, as the Armenian Nation has a historical motherland, these problems will be solved easier,” Armenian President said.
As the President pointed out, many people ask, what is the uniqueness of the Armenian nation and whether it is the Diaspora. The President is sure that it is the fact that throughout their history Armenians only saw and appropriated only the most advanced things.
